Photos in a Haunted House

Photos in a Haunted House

I want to start off by giving a HUGE thanks to Julie Socher Photography for spending a cold winter afternoon with me in a creepy haunted house.

Yes, I said “creepy — haunted — house.”

I met Julie a couple of years ago when she photographed my sister’s wedding at Trent Hall Farm, a beautiful farm with a bed and breakfast, located on the Patuxent River in Southern Maryland. When I contacted Julie about getting some pictures taken of me, for my website, she suggested that we go back to Trent Hall. Yes! The Trent Hall B&B has the perfect atmosphere that I was looking for. So, I gave Nancy and Bud Virts a call and scheduled a day to come out and visit.

When we arrived, Nancy greeted us with a warm smile, and offered to give us a tour. She told us that the house was built in 1789, and it’s haunted. She said that guests have told her that they’d seen orbs and ghosts when they stayed the night, and that weird shapes have appeared in some of the photos taken throughout the house.

Julie loves hearing supernatural stories, and I think she was hoping that she would see a little ghost boy in the corner of a room or something. NOT ME! Nope. I am a total scaredy cat when it comes to that kind of stuff. I was even more freaked out because I stayed the night in the B&B the night before my sister’s wedding. I remember barely being able to fall asleep that night because I couldn’t shake this eerie feeling I had.

Well, to Julie’s disappointment and my satisfaction, we didn’t see any ghost boys, hear weird sounds or see any kind of supernatural activity! Phew. But, we did have a lot of fun, and Julie captured some awesome pictures!

She spent the next week editing the photos and examining them for any weird objects or ghostly figures in the background. I spent the next week afraid to sleep at night, paranoid that a ghost had followed me home. Hah.

I love all of the pictures, and I can’t wait to do this again! Except, maybe next time we’ll avoid haunted houses.

Okay, but all ghost jokes aside, Trent Hall Farm is a beautiful piece of property. If you’re looking for a venue, or a quiet B&B, it’s definitely worth checking out.
